Slow Loris has lurched back into action with a clutch of releases lately. I was thinking it should be a crutch of releases nd then I realised it shouldn't be a crotch of releases. Crotch really isn't a pleasant word..... And that's why you don't get a crotch of releases. Anyhoo Driftwood Manor have a CD out on Slow Loris called 'Every Light Goes Out Eventually' which I thoroughly enjoyed. They're an Irish collective who make some really special sounding folk music... The backing vocals are really ominous and deep. They're really memorable and quite unusual with a real otherworldy feel about them.... It sort of reminds of some of Alexander Tucker's work as it has a similar pace, weird vocals and that ye olde worlde folk thing going on. Also I can hear bits of Alasdair Roberts, Six Organs etc. in there. It's a remarkably strong release and I'm gonna be hunting own the bands previous release on the strength of this sucker. Deffo one of my highlights of the week.
