The chance to admire Chris Corsano's skills is always an exciting prospect, one which this duo LP with John Edwards kneels down and offers to us on a velvet cushion. It takes its time to kick in but once it does the chops on show are pretty dazzling and the sounds they're wringing out of the well-worn combination of drums and double bass quite astonishing. I'm particularly liking the fact that the album offers an occasionally grounding in more traditional, almost bebop-style interplay before going off to crazy super freedom land where you've little choice but to sit there agog at what you're hearing, your mind trying desperately to keep up with it all. It's kind of like trying to count bullets from a machine gun or something. It's a fantastic piece of work and the liner notes from Evan Parker are pretty sound also! 'Tsktsking' comes in an attractive screen printed edition of 500 on Dancing Wayang so be quick.
