"Ok" band in Mercury Music Prize win shocker. It was reasonably pleasing to see a fairly good band win the Mercury wasn't it? They seem like very nice people and their music certainly has its moments, I mean, they aren't brilliant but I've heard worse definitely. So while the winsome threesome go back the studio and panic about what on earth they should do next we have woolly haired king of the remix and fellow Elliot School alumni Fourtet to fill in the gaps. Its a shuffle drummed trance like number that moves along in a reasonably good fashion, the highlight being some nice cut up vocals. He employs a lot of Orb like synth tweets towards the end which give it at times the air of 70's prog but overall the Can like percussion and squelchy bass synth propel the thing along like it means business and it adopts a trance like manner that is very appealing. There's nothing on the B side unfortunately but fans of the XX and/or Fourtet you'll be wanting it for this mix alone.
