I'm digging the five colour screenprint that adorns the cover of the Cotton Museum's 'Pus Pustules' and the mentally monstrous etching on the B-side is also prinking my interest. Cotton Museum is a solo electronic noise project from visual artist Chris Pottinger, which probably explains the great visuals that accompany this album. Musically (well sonically...) we are dealing with mutated electronic improvisation that bubbles and pulses like a bog of lava or a persistent welt. This ain't no painful noise assault, far from it, here Pottinger explores the edges of the sci-fi world creating a sound that is neither abrasive or relaxed. Sorta sounds like weird sound effects used in an 80's b-movie horror movie like Critters or Piranha. Totally squelchy and strange, 'Pus Pulstules' fizzes and pops it's way through a 21 minute journey of madness. Totally processed!
