Adam Green has been keeping busy since his Moldy Peaches hayday with 'Minor Love' being his sixth solo outing. I don't think i've heard the other five but this one sounds alot like classic Lou Reed to me. The production has a simple, honest quality that lets the music (and the man) doing the talking, which it indeed does. Lyrically Mr. Green is both charming and graceful, much like Lou Reed. Musically it's a mish mash of tunes that appear to be inspired by all things NEW YORK!!! So, bits of it sound like Velvets, some like Magazine, some like The Strokes, bit like Moldy Peaches....you get the idea. I like the humble nature of 'Minor Love'. It ain't bold, just beautiful.....much like the man himself....he's a handsome devil ain't he...

Oh, look, it's Adam! Hi Adam. Whoa! What's with the hair, the jacket, the slacks? No, I wouldn't prefer a beard. I just need a moment to get used to it that's all. Ok, so what's goes on? Yeah, Lou's great, I like him too. I like New York yeah we all like New York. This sounds like New York. You live there, I know. I rock to and fro, gazing sat back then leaning in squinting at you. Can't decide if I think you've grown up or grown down with this one. Either way, I guess being big in Germany wears thin by a point, time to rediscover home, I've felt that way too before (Germany yes. Big no, not quite). We can talk about the fine line between wonderful wordplay and cryptic mesh that as often weaves a wall as it does a magic carpet. Let's do that someday. I think about it a lot, that thread n' fine line. You teeter both ways as ever, and yes I do keep coming back. This is no Friends of Mine but it tastes real good, I often choose it for my breakfast. Adam, I want you to be the Beck without the Sci-gy, the Malkmus with the guitar turned down a touch, the East to their West. You're this and more all your own, but I still don't quite know what's all up in your apple, what aftertaste you want me to take from my funsize bites of NYCity living. But it sure is flavorsome. You're so far off the current crop but that's no fail coz' you've got this one nailed down, and it's a pleasure to sit in such a nicely crafted shed, with all these little design features, the rain kept out and views onto the nooks n' crannies of the city you so love to do the living in.
