Meso Meso is the solo project of Japanese artist Yukimo and on her 'Spoon' album she comes across sounding like a shy little pixie when she sings. A really gentle and pretty sound that recalls Mum in parts. She plays accordion, melodica, glockenspiel and toys and the overall feel is like a psychedelic twinkly wonderland that's weeping with sadness. At times it sounds extremely delicate and fragile with a lovely balance of sounding somewhat poppy yet retaining an experimental edge. It's quite emotional stuff and I think this could well appeal to those of you that enjoy listening to Small Color and The Tenniscoats.
