What's funny about mystery pseudonyms is that people usually say it's so the focus is on the music, even though it actually means people focus on the music even less than they would've done anyway because they just sit there trying to guess who it could be. The Predicate Production Guild is apparently someone with a Warp involvement and after it'd been on a little while the other day Phil piped up with the suggestion of Scott Herren which is a guess so good I don't think I can top it. Him doing stuff on Finders Keepers would be a bit weird but there's the odd part on here you could easily mistake for one of his productions, although I think it's miles better than anything he's done in a good few years with its seamless combination of Tortoise-y post-rock, abstracted hip-hop break samples and Ghost Box-y retro ambience (even taking their visual element, going down the whole 'soundtrack to an imaginary film' route). A quality listen and likely to become a bit of a collector's item should the maker go 'Gloria's Theme' ever be unmasked.
