Tour de France by Kraftwerk

Tour De France was a 2003 album by Kraftwerk made to celebrate the centenary of the bicycle race of the same name. It contains a brand new version of their 1983 single of the same name as well as a host of other compositions. The track was initially made due to the bands increasing interest in cycling prompted by Ralf Hutter. The new version and accompanying album form part of the last 'new' material heard from the band to date.

Tour de France 1, 2, and 3 are rather more like 1 big track split into 3 parts. It's rather like a cycling version of the Autobahn track from their classic album Autobahn. All of the songs on the here have a nice sound to them, it's easy to relax too, yet at the same time, I can imagine cycling to it as well. There are a few hidden, distant musical shades of 'Computer World' and other works throughout the whole adventure, and although sometimes very subtle they are well worth listening out for.
