Stonery rock men Monster Magnet are having their debut or "objectively best album" (according to a youtuber who asked "a few fans") reissued on wax once more on Napalm Records ! Just imagine having that cover in big form in your hands. That's just the epitome of American psych right there. There will be riffs.

Spine of God by Monster Magnet

7/10 gbar Customer review, 14th November 2017

Monster Magnet's debut album 'Spine of God', released in 1991, is regarded as one of the first examples of stoner rock. The overall sound is very heavy, psychedelic and usually played at a slow tempo, although on this, the band appear to have more in common with The Stooges or MC5 than fellow stoner rockers Kyuss. Tracks like "Medicine", "Nod Scene" and "Ozium" are perfect templates of what stoner rock would go on to become over the years. The record itself clocks just under 50 minutes (a bit too long, I'd say) but overall, it's an interesting album that sounds like it could've been recorded in the 1970's and isn't too far away from the sound of Black Sabbath.
