Dialing in is the work of Reita Piecuch and 'The Islamic Bomb' is her third album to date. Inspired by her travels across the world (in this case Pakistan), Rieta creates her unique drones by manipulating field recordings and mashing them with obscure old records. The press release will give you some idea of the methods involved in creating the music so i'll try and give you an idea of how it sounds. 'The Islamic Bomb' is meditation drone processed in an ultra lo-fi style. It's almost completely devoid of traditional song structure and melody yet it has a hypnotic quality that i find very appealing. Totally mashed vocal samples merge with odd synth tones and twisted loops to create a tranquil tapestry that only occasional drifts into dark territory. Ultimately difficult to pin down 'The Islamic terrorist' is an excellent example of an artist intent on re-inventing the process of sound manipulation using only the most archaic of methods. For fans of Skaters, James Farrero, Growing, Predator Vision and other ambient innovators of the modern age.
