Word on the street is I'm here to write some reviews and being that I'm a good lad I'll do as the word on the street says and do a few. This first one is on the Ruralfaune label of France by Microblind Harvestmen which appears to be Robert Horton (or Robert Horton fame) and Hal Hughes. Robert Horton plays bowed guitar, minidisk's, sine waves, computer, taoesstuck CD, slide turntable, snare drum, vitaminder (what?), toothbrush, electric barometer, vocals, harmonica, prepared boot, cassette recorder and Hal plays the fiddle, bass and banjo. My musical talents stretch to playing the toothbrush and boot these days! This is an avant garde sounding CD with distorted strings playing some sort of deranged Americana over various tones and noises. It's pretty busy sounding and there's plenty going on to keep the ears interested. It's an abstract blend of free jazz meets experimental americana... it's an odd mix which works quite well. 70 copies on 'n all!
