Sic Alps are kind of a weird one I think. A Long Way Around to a shortcut is a double vinyl version of a CD released last year, itself compiling tunes released in the previous years on various 7"s, 12"s, CDs and cassettes. It features a combination of their own tunes and tastefully chosen covers (from Throbbing Gristle, Strapping Field Hands and The Zipps) which all sound a bit like Daniel Johnston staggering about in a musical instrument shop with the lights off, rocking out the occasional tune between the clunks and scrapes. Super lo-fi's really all the rage at the moment, isn't it? This wouldn't feel too out of place on Woodsist or Siltbreeze but it's another Drag City bomber.
