Maybe it's just a diminishing returns thing since it tends to showcase the more dancefloor-friendly 4/4 end of their output and that's inevitably going to start wearing a little bit thin eventually in a home listening situation.. 8/10 Brett Staff review, 06 August 2009
In my view the Kompakt Total series has been a bit shit in recent years after the pretty stellar early ones. Maybe it's just a diminishing returns thing since it tends to showcase the more dancefloor-friendly 4/4 end of their output and that's inevitably going to start wearing a little bit thin eventually in a home listening situation.. However, number 10 is here and I reckon it bucks the trend a little bit with a super enjoyable set from label staples such as DJ Koze, Thomas Mayer, Gui Boratto, Matias Aguayo, The Field AND MORE - all split across two CDs and a bumper triple vinyl. Highly recommended for lovers of what I've come to enjoy calling 'emo house' - just try not to dance like Phil when you're listening to it or your friends might suddenly start to be 'busy' pretty often.
