Moon Duo is a fella from The Wooden Shjips. Ripley Johnson to be precise. So not a duo at all....'Love On The Sea' is the debut release by them/ him on the Sick Thirst label and it's a 10 minute epic which will have you rocking like a bastard in no time. It's a massive kraut rockathon with it's hypnotic guitar riff (later on in the track it does remind me of some of the very early Stereolab riffs) with oodles of the Velvets, Suicide in there and ample repetition. Not a whiff of the Doors in site neither.... just a cyclical beast of a tune which goes on and on until your brains melts into a pile of mush. Some nice fuzzy psych keyboards in there.... I wasn't a massive fan of the last Wooden Shjips album but this is truly awesome!! It builds and builds and you're just wondering where it's all gonna go? My only criticism of the track is that it fades out so it's building up to fade out which is a shame as it it needed a proper ending. The flipside E-Z Street is more of 60's style psych workout with fuzzy guitars and organs which also rocks like a bastard but it's not as krauty as the lead track. Am amazing 12" which is gonna go dead quickly as there's only 150 in the UK (500 in total) and everything on the label sells out in no time.
