I can't believe how bad the Dead Weather album is. I've listened to it twice all the way through and it's essentially a load of hoary old rock. The only good thing to come out of it is that the Kills have officially split up so there's not gonna be anymore Kills records. Every cloud eh? This is supposed to be Jack White being experimental but it's still blues rock which is stuck in the 70's. You'd really expect a lot better. It ignores the charm and simplicity of The White Stripes and instead it treads down a path of self indulgent toss which is mind crushingly tedious. It's well produced I'll give it that but somewhere along the line they forgot to write the songs. Not even the forthcoming single 'Treat Me Like Your Mother' can salvage it as it sounds like a track from Big Chief's largely ignored 1992 funk rock epic 'Face' and again there's not much of a tune to get it's hooks into you. Most disappointing but then I did have a feeling it would be. Horehound is on CD and LP but we're out of the LP as the distro cut all the orders (presumably to give to HMV's!)

10/10 Mark 22nd September 2014

Raw power, naked electricity, bold bluesy melodies burst in old fashion rock'n roll... and with the punk accent. Jim Morrison reincarnated in less intellectual role is Alison Mosshart singing in Horehound frenzy creation. Jack White's heavy drumming really gives the way to all the rave on the stage. Dean Fertita playing the guitar and Moog like he was hiding something all his life and finally somebody has opened a secret chamber in him.

Exaggeration - maybe. Hypocrisy - no way. Four musician gathered together, having their dark good time of joy. Dead Weather is the unique micro world with the special magic dust chemistry. All is working like swiss made watches her. Magical moments of improvisation and thorny melodies. This album is absolute perfection for me in terms of musical genre, expression, freedom and art. I give it 10/10 because the ingredients couldn't be mixed better.
