Johnny Fuckoff Minotaur (Easter Exit 2) is a good title and this Ashtray Navigations album, packaged in a hand sprayed clamshell thingy, is a good album. I'm hearing a bit of a Spacemen 3 thing on this one, more so than the other stuff of his I've heard. Droning, repetitive guitar riffs are a big presence, either swirling around all indistinct in the background (as on the brief first track) or brought right to the fore (as on the lengthy third). All sorts of crazy processsing's going on in here, creating a modern psychedelic collage effect that succeeds very nicely at drawing you in for hypnotic japes like the rotating eyes of a cartoon snake but made out of music rather than pencils and cameras. Noisy fun on Memoirs of An Aesthete in an edition of 100.
