Timber Timbre is Toronto based songwriter Taylor Kirk, who has earned a reputation for the atmospheric wizardry of his mesmerising live performances. This self titled release charts his musical journey from mournful, lo-fi bedroom music to his more advanced studio work creating ethereal and intensely visual soundscapes.

8/10 Brian Staff review, 16 September 2010

This guy Taylor Kirk has a slightly strange shtick. Kind of half 50's R'n'R crooner/half nu-folkster with a bit of a haunted ballroom vibe. If you could imagine Richard Hawley dragging Devendra Banhart along, through some dusty Badlands, by his crazy Jesus hair then you might be somewhere close. The thing I particularly like about this band of quirky Canadians is that they sound queerly out-of-time and with that, really homely. The music has a curious warmth, an engaging simplicity & a heartfelt playfulness. Both dreamy and eerie, this won't be to everyone's charms (his vocals are sometimes a little um...special) but it's nostalgic oddness has charmed my pants off today!
