1 review »I can't believe how many Dinosaur Jr and Sonic Youth records we're selling at the moment. It's well 1988 again!! Could be something to do with the fact there's so much shit about that folks get all excited about things they feel comfortable with. I did slam on the new Dinosaur Jr album (Farm) earlier today and really enjoyed the majority of it. Not really liked much since You're Living All Over Me ... »

I can't believe how many Dinosaur Jr and Sonic Youth records we're selling at the moment. It's well 1988 again!! Could be something to do with the fact there's so much shit about that folks get all excited about things they feel comfortable with. I did slam on the new Dinosaur Jr album (Farm) earlier today and really enjoyed the majority of it. Not really liked much since You're Living All Over Me & Bug to be honest but I wanted to hear what the original line up would create. It's surprisingly good... Strangely comforting in a weird way. I'm not one for guitar solos and for some reason J Mascis's elongated solos really don't bother me that much on this record. Maybe I'm having a tolerant week? I think it's partially to do with the production as it's a wee bit fuzzier than the recent glossy productions and it does hark back to those good old slacker fuzzy days of lazy sounding rock. By the end of the album I was a bit bored of it but for the 1st 20-30 minutes I felt pretty exhilarated by parts and there's few guitars records that do that to me these days. The Lou Barlow tune about half way through made both Brian's and my ears prick up. The vinyl is well nice as well as it's a double with a bonus 7" and a fancy download thing 'n all! I'm pleased they're still going anyway and new folks are getting into 'em again. Like I said earlier, it's all strangely comforting.
