I must confess to being disappointed by the latest Blast First Suicide 10". On paper the prospect of Sunn O)) and Pan Sonic collaborating and doing a cover of 'Che' is the sort of thing that makes me get extremely exited. The Sunn O)) lineup here is Joe Preston on vocals, Stephen O'malley, Greg Anderson, Steve Morre on Hammond, Rex Ritter on Moog and Farsifa. However the Pan Sonic line up is only Mika Vainio. So where is Ilpo Väisänen??? Ha he left? Or is this just really a Sunn O)) lineup that includes Vaino and Blast First chose to use the Pan Sonic name as they are on the label. Who knows but anyone expecting some Pan Sonic action will be disappointed. If you're looking for a new Sunn O)) track though you'll probably enjoy the doom laden take on the original. Alan Vega goes nuts on the other side of the record and there is also a version of 'Goodbye Darling' by Head Of David chap Stephen Burroughs.
