Emeralds. We're all quite in love with the double set that's just landed on Weird Forest. 'Allegory of Allergies' was originally a tape only release by all accounts and captures the trio in full shimmering ambient Kraut mode, taking the bag of musical jewels forged by pioneers such as Tangerine Dream & Cluster, then dusting them with dreamy post-rock textures and emotive ambient tints. Beginning with ever entwining woozy analogue keys that tentatively converse, locking into sensuous interplay whilst more spectral, haunting synth lines hover inquisitively around, all creating this exquisitely searching & meditative aura that eventually (for me) recalls Autechre's earlier percussion-free takes on neo-classical machine music. It's a an intensely moving side of vinyl. Side 2 begins it's quest with an amazing astral drone track, sustained banks of slightly fluctuating incandescent noise with a quiet thrum of restrained fuzz beneath. There's some of the darker stuff to be consumed on disc one's closer, a haunting synth drifts above a lightly shifting bolt of mid pitched buzz before this retreats to leave a light spangle of tenderly stroked shoegaze-y guitar. If that wasn't enough, there's another bloody record of cosmically arresting proportions to go at (which i'm saving for home, this baby is my copy since I opened it!!) and i realise i've played the first one at 45 but it sounded so amazing i'm unwilling to return to the decks in 33 mode incase something dilutes the magic i've just experienced. This is worth the 20 quid plus price tag I assure you, a true future classic that'll be cherished by fans of the cerebrally massaging outer reaches for light years!
