Onto Roxy Rawson with a 12" called 'Changing Things EP'out on Ambiguous Records. I like this. It's light and breezy like a light and breezy summer wind. It's all very clever as well..... She's one of those kooky sounding ladies who makes mashed sounding pop music. Think Regina Spektor and a possible dash of Joanna Newsom thrown into the summery mix. It's simple sounding rhythmic music played with mainly a violin from all accounts. She taps the body of the violin while she's playing to create the beat. It's fresh sounding pop music and it's really quite free sounding for someone making formulaic pop songs. Well they're not even formulaic as such.... vocals drop in and out... instruments drop in and out and you don't know if you're coming or going. If you're a fan of Regina Spektor you'll love this! Hand numbered of 300 copies and we've managed to get some signed copies so be quick!
