'Private History of the Clouds' is a collaborative effort from Alio Die and Aglaia available on the ever impressive Infraction records in one of those Japanese style mini LP gatefold covers that look well nice. I'm not familiar with the works of these artists individually but I'm impressed by their collaborative efforts. What irks me about most drone style records is that are either too dense and heavy or crazy jazz free for alls with no focus, 'Private History of the Clouds' is an exception in that it plies the trade of pure ambience so it's both subtle and rich in tone. This collaboration could be described as 'aquatic drone' mainly due to the amount of water based found sounds that litter this selection of treated drones and loops. So, in parts it's spacy, pastoral, medative and (to an extent) spiritual due to it's musing over energy in nature. I don't completely understand the theory but there is definitely some tree hugging nature worshipping themes going on throughout but don't let this put you off, this is an excellent collection of lulled soundscapes and spaced out opuses.
