Well Kelli Ali has flung us some of her albums in the post & I've landed the one called 'Butterfly'. The former Sneaker Pimp seems to have been embroiled in producing work of a more folk tinged nature in recent years. Given how much me & my friend Claire loved 'Becoming X' back in the '90's I'm surprised she's fallen below the radar for many. Her voice still has that sweet feline purr to it, now melting over crisp acoustic, flute & cello. She's certainly an underrated talent and this digipak CD from last year is quite beautiful. Intriguingly, she reprises her version of 'Willow's Song' from that debut pimps effort (called 'How Do' back in the day..) and it still fills my head with images of Britt Ekland's body double shaking her lusty booty in the Wicker Man, probably many folks earliest erotic experience! Lovely arrangements, soothing aura, divine voice, I'd be hard pushed to choose between this & 'Rocking Horse'.....
