Hannu is back with his 2nd album on the ole Kesh label ran by Televise guru and head honcho Simon Scott. Hannu's previous album was a lovely mess of melodic electronica and electro acoustic gubbins all lovingly crafted together like a well laid out dining table. Mmm... Dining... We like a bit of fine dining here.... Hintergarden continues the lovelyness with some amazingly lush melodies and ideas crammed together. There's plenty of twinkles to even give Colleen a run for her money (she is the current queen of twinkles). It reminds me a little of Four Tet's 'Pause' album but without the beats and with more of an experimental feel, maybe a bit of mid period Remote Viewer in there 'n all. The whole album has quite a majestic feel to it and for those who like bedroom electronica then I reckon this is a must have. The more I hear it the more I'm sucked into the lovelyness that smothers each song with it's syrupy cleverness and general brilliance. Yes I like it. It may have something to do with the fact that half of Isan have produced it. Also the aforementioned label head honcho helps out with some of the playing on it and additional production. Apparently the label are more proud of this than any other release and I can see why. It's really very good!!
