Always a pleasure, never a chore to get something on Sentient Recognition Archive to listen to and write about. Here I have the excellent 'Heirophant' CD by Josh Lay and it's a pretty cool listen. It's on the more distorted fuzzy noisy end of the drone spectrum. I guess it's been made with guitar and effects but I could easilly be wrong. It's pretty murky and gloomy in places. The second track has some evil demonic vocals. A dark fuckin trip that one. I've never heard this guy's stuff before but he's been active in the underground for a while with a ton of CDr and cassette releases dating back to 2003 (the 'Poison Drinker' CD for one, which we've just got in in reissued form). This was recorded in the winter in Kentucky. No doubt a bleak point in time for the artist. with track titles like 'These Times Are Bad Times' 'Beyond Melted' 'Found Dead In The Woods Of Kentucky' he's clearly got an inspiring positive outlook on life and he likes to drink booze. I want to be his friend. Love the image on the sleeve too. Recommended!
