Rob Ellis is back on Planet Mu as Pinch with his 'Attack Of The Giant Killer Robot Spiders' 12". Known for his pure Bristol bass bin bashers this is a quite different, the rhythm is awkward broken sounding, it sounds like it's literally falling apart. Lots of detailed little percussive hits and the usual crisp and crunchy production and fat as yo' mama thundering sub low bassline. There's some his usual ultra eerie synths hovering about and all. I'd like to hear this one fully cranked up. The snare is proper nasty. After a brief breakdown a big pulsating wobbler kicks in to wreck your head. Then from the darkness a simple but effective melody manifests for a short burst. Hmm what's on the flip.... 'Teleportation' is supremely deep with a super funky drum track, female vocal sample, and spaced out cinematic synth atmospherics. All good stuff as usual from this producer that rules when it comes to a top quality production sound.
