Poppy and the Jezebels remind me of the strange old days of Shampoo and Kenekie and such but this is probably alot more ambitious in scale than those groups. 'Rhubarb and Custard' sounds like it could have been written by Stock, Atkin and Waterman on a great day and reminds me a bit of Bananrama. I'm not sure what else to say about it, it's good but in a very odd way i can't really articulate. B-side 'Write her name in lights' address's the serious issue of teenage schizophrenia to a tune that is produced to sound quite christmassy? Bit odd that. The members of the band are staring at me from the 7" single cover......they look like the kind of girls who might hassle you outside the off-license to get 'em a bottle of White Lightning or a pack of Mayfair's.
