Come the Bluest Down is the debut release from Norabelle. It comes in the form of a four-track EP on one of those classy looking faux vinyl CDs via Static Caravan. The cover has got textured feel of a freshly screenprinted cover which I assume it is. Its a delightful looking number. Norabelle are Ken Clarke (vocals/guitar) and Shane O'Hanrahan (guitar/vocals/piano) and they hail from Dublin. They sing beautiful harmony and have a preference for dual twinkle attack on the old six string, which almost always bodes well and Norbelle are no exception to the rule. Fantastically steady, melodic folk music immaculately recorded to make the best of the simple ingredients. 'Pins In Needles' being the best example of Norbelle's simple majesty. They bring to mind all sorts of comparisons: James Orr Complex, Will Oldham, maybe nods to American Analogue Set, Pinback and most definitely Simon and Garfunkel. Simple, effective stuff. My fave Static Caravan release in a while.
