Moderat - that’s a union of Modeselektor and Apparat, by the way - drop their eponymous debut LP via Ellen Allien’s BPitch Control (Paul Kalkbrenner, Mark Broom). As one might have expected given the people behind it, Moderat is a collection of juicy electronica-techno hybrids. Think Clark. Paul St. Hilaire and Dellé aka Eased from Seeed contribute guest vocals.

8/10 Matt Sanchez 22nd February 2019

I picked up this album after having my face blown away from one of their early shows in France, and it's a real testament to their live performances from that era. Opening with A New Error as a statement of intent for the rest of the album, followed up with the standout tracks of Rusty Nails and Seamonkey, which some may recognise, it really hits a peak on the Porc tracks. The album sits in a niche area between Blanck Mass, Apparat and Mogwai and it's a really great place to get started on this act has developed to a more triphop/eurotechnopop act - not that I'm complaining though!
