Over the Edge was the bleak and windswept third album by cult US group the Wipers. Their post-punk sound sits somewhere between early REM and Husker Du with superb proto-college rock guitars and Greg Sage's guttural howl which on the title track is easy to see how it influenced future fan boy Kurt Cobain. Essential remastered edition for you to (re) discover.

9/10 Jack 23rd August 2016There are punk bands and there are grunge bands and there are The Wipers. It has everything you need for a great rock performance -- an insane guitar tone (P-90s), a crazed voice, an adrenalized drummer, and great songs with stupid lyrics. Who could ask for more? If you're just getting into this band this is where you might want to start (this or Is This Real? - which is also a masterpiece). This record show cases Greg Sage's amazing guitar solos and song writing talents that he holds in spades.
