Reviver is the follow up to Abe Vigoda's first outing 'Skeleton' and introduces us lucky folks to five brand spanking new tracks. Abe Vigoda have developed their early post-punk material into something a little more inventive on Reviver, sidestepping the usual DIY post-punk/new wave influences and dipping a cautous toe into the murky world of psychedelic pop. It sounds like these new American punk rock bands have reintroduced themselves to the demon weed and are getting fully blissed out...... Musically this sounds a little like a slightly less intense version of the excellent Ponytail but with much more structured and direct lyrical approach. The five track EP also features a cover of Stevie Nicks 'Wild Heart' which sees the band at there most inventive. It's a cheeky little cover that comes across sounding a little like Interpol but with loads of plinky plonky guitar loops with added echoplex! Tightly rhythmic yet fully spaced out. Check this out if you are interested in the new talents emerging from the L.A. DIY music scene or the records of the awesome Bella Union label. Definitely worth a little look.
