Cor blimey! It's only a new Faust album, innit! It's called C'est Com.. Com.. Complique because they have a Frenchman now and he's comandeered the titles. This LP follows the pattern of their recent work quite nicely, augmenting the droney post-industrial compositions (complete with super clangy bass, walls of guitar noise and slow, deliberate drumming) with occasional vocal snippets from Amaury Cambuzat of Ulan Bator which Phil hates but the rest of us don't mind. A lot of it reminds me of a more experimental version of The Young Gods actually, especially the LP of Kurt Weill covers.. There's a definite Weimar quality to it when the vocals nip in, wrong language or not. You've got to love the wacky moments too, our new Business Lady was particularly enjoying the part where they all try to do their droney sounds with the powers of their mouths rather than actual proper instruments.. And you should hear the mental bass-playing on the jazzier efforts. Ace avant-rock stuff from total masters!
