Sleepy Sun get in on the new skool psych/prog/stoner rock act, releasing a splatty 10"; 'New Age' thru ATP. They've got a realy nice sound actually, reigning in the dreaded excesses to create a hazy, druggy slice of audio nirvana - dirty, fuzzy hypnotic bass groove, tumbling, rolling drums, squalling wah-wah guitar swirling & spilling all over the shop and a production that would probably keep most old acid heads rocking in their snakeskin boots for hours at a time. The vocals shift obscurely around in the aural fog, the end result being a fine chunk of direct & tough modern psych rock. The flip is a piano enhanced blues-ey ballad that doesn't quite work for me, although it's executed incredibly well. Makes me think of Pink Floyd OD-ing on Spiritualized's paisley carpet. Limited, no doubt!!!
