'Doubtful Comforts' is Blue Roses' debut single and it's really very nice, setting their stall out as classy contenders for the crown of something or other I don't know I can't be arsed thinking of something imaginative. Set to a twinkling music box backing, all dead minimal and delicate, the falsetto female vocals get across a real sense of sadness and regret without me even needing to make out the lyrics which is just as well since everyone's talking their usual bollocks all over the place while some of us are trying to bloody work. It's like three minutes of sitting in Edward Scissorhands' castle or something but I don't want to think about that 'cos I'll probably cry. It comes on a 7", limited to 500 copies. I like it. It's nice.
