8/10 Brett Staff review, 15 April 2009
I thought about half of Lord for £39, the last Neil Landstrumm album, was dead good and about half was Bilbo Bobbins so how will his Empire On a Fiver EP stack up? Let us find out! First of all, it seems pretty clear to me that he's just dicking about and having fun with all the dubstep wobble and that so I'm not gonna criticise him for it, especially since it rears its head reasonably infrequently on this 12" with just a few little wobbz on lead track 'The Godfathers 560'. As usual he's got his fingers in many of Greggs' wares, be they techno pies, electro pasties, hip-hop cakes or R 'n' B baps so if you're in the market for a beaty trip through Genre City with a bit of a pretend Scando leg end give this three tracker a crack.. Especially for the remix he does of Rustie's 'Jagz the Smack', it's a bit of a technoid beaut!
