Someone just threw the third Bibio album at me to write about. 'Vignetting The Compost' is bursting with 16 tracks of intricate guitar pluckery. Some of the tunes have a delicious analogue production sound, like the master tapes have been left to warp and blister in the sweltering summer heat. There's a good combination of instrumental and vocal tracks that veer into slightly psychedelic territory and occasionally recall a less dark Alexander Tucker. The lo-tech approach he takes to the treatment of his sounds gives them an aged timeless quality, they almost smell musty like they've been buried in a 60's time capsule by some acid folkers. Smart stuff on Mush.
