Multiverse could have been one of those well dodgy band names but luckily it's merely the title of an album by Say. Their sleeve is a bit cosmo-cheese but their hugely addictive & playful modern psychedelic pop is anything but. Recorded lavishly to bring out the best in their chiming guitars & effortless layered harmonies, they owe a serious debt to the finest practitioners of the 60's but stamp the whole record with an air of reverence & individuality. A little more than merely a really enjoyable pastiche of an era, I think this will satiate fans of the poppier end of the Elephant 6 spectrum, bands like Beulah, for this is multi-hued rainbow of brash pop sweets with flowers in its long hair and magic mushrooms hanging out of its giddy 60s ass. It's a bit proggy, lots of minor key changes and schizoid elements in places too but they keep it reigned in, keeping it undeniably hook filled to the brim of its inverted bell bottom.
