ddd. Yes that's the name. Catchy. Is it pronounced dee dee dee or Triple D or what? Like the lower case, well esoteric. Anyhow, they've a weird old 10" out comprising of spindly electro flecked art-rock with a strange industrial sheen. Slightly abrasive male vocals bounce of a drum machine whilst distorted shards of trebly guitar stab your ears off. It's probably got as much in common with the likes of Fad Gadget as any of the contemporary fringe agit pop players. Big Black have been mentioned but so has 'Warm Leatherette' They're obviously in love with that caustic, fractured sound but can't help coming across like a more mechanised version of Big Flame without the galloping buzzsaw mania and with more frowning. Not everyone's bag but I love the fact they're forging their own place in the baffling pantheon of modern indie music. 3 tracks on a 1 sided 10" EP with a brilliant screen printed sleeve featuring a picture of some horses in negative.
