Like the sound of Crayon too. They're from Leeds (although i'm unfamiliar with their name so will keep my roving eye out from now on!) and have a beautiful sound on 'A House is not a Horse' resonating with high, tender cracked vocals, slightly Peter Gabriel-ish like TVOTR, calmly rolling military drums & an old Tindersticksy organ sound gliding along somberly, battling with fuzzy understated guitar sweeps to create a great chunk of epic sad pop with post rock undertones - I could imagine fans of early Doves liking it for some reason but that may be a load of deluded cobblers. The flip 'Milk' stutters into life with some wistful electronic glitch and less than gleeful organ. It sounds like a gloomy Tunng then suddenly bursts out into gorgeous understated psych pop like Simian crossed with Grandaddy with all these bloopy synth sounds, emotive organ and hushed, dreamy harmonies, In the end, the better of two rather great tracks. An essential 7", on Great Pop Supplement, lovingly packaged and in an edition of 300. Don't miss this one.
