Here's a CD by Oldman on the French Arbouse label. This is an odd beast. It starts off with a throbbing solo bass which reminds me of a Neubauten track from Tabula Rasa. Here's a CD by Oldman on the French Arbouse label. This is an odd beast. It starts off with a throbbing solo bass which reminds me of a Neubauten track from Tabula Rasa. Some eerie theremin noise and then some shuffling kicks in making one of the oddest tracks I've heard in a while. Then comes the old twiddly dee folk guitar. I swear I didn't know it was coming. The album straddles instrumental acoustic guitar led folk and wierd experimental cinematic soundtrack pieces. I like calling music pieces. There's some lovely folk guitar on this album in amidst the general wierdness. Comparisons?? I can't think of any. The guitar reminds me a bit of Bagpuss at times and that tweeness is balanced by some weird darkness on the odd track and some twinkling on the other. A complete mixed bag of an album which fits together like a patchwork quilt. It's very good. 'Son, Father & Son' is CD only!
