We all remember when we were when White Lies released To Lose My Life don't we. Don't we?? Well September 2009 should be indelibly stamped on your brain as the month their debut was unleashed and incredibly went straight to the very top of the UK album chart. Well blow me down with a feather. It managed to score 58 on Metacritic and was described by the Guardian as "promising, if unremarkable" so it's high time we got a tenth anniversary re-issue which thrillingly contains demo and live tracks discovered in bassist Charles Cave's personal cupboard.

Trying to keep my eyes open after staying up till four reading the bloody blog on this site. God you lot are sooooo boring. Hehehe. But not as boring as White Lies who seem to have eaten the ghost of Then Jericho & ingested some concentrated MP3s of 'Scoundrel Days' by A-ha then dusted their sleek cheekbones with some powdered Keane. Yes, the top tip for 2009 is a 3 piece who look too young & handsome to be so bleak & sad as this. They should be off letching tasty young foxes in nightclubs, not making sub-Editors comedy stadium angst. They're fine musicians indeed, taut and euphoric but these songs are like the 80s never happened, vacuous, airbrushed, hollow, pompous, bland...horrid horrid horrid. These fucking songs are gonna soundtrack every telly trailer on TV for the next year, I'm actually missing Tim Hemmington-Smyth and his port drinking ways already. 'To Lose My Life' is on compact disc and big fat wax. I can see all the mums lapping this up & buying it with their blushed tomato & celery salads on a Saturday afternoon at Wankburys.
