Telefon Tel Aviv were once the bright young things of US electronica. Their 'Farenheit Fair Enough' album was one of those records that just seemed perfect for any given situation, whether driving forlornly down American highways or watching the rain fall through gaps in the ceiling in a Burley bedsit, it seemed to be the right soundtrack. An Air aping second LP with terrible faux soul vocals undid all that good work but now they are back with a third album and a return to the cinematic soundcapes but much bigger sounding. The major comparison would be an Ulrich Shnauss who has soaked up the cold mid 80's New Order rather than the pump your hands in the air U2. Theres a fair slab of house influences in here and at times its not too far away from chart territory. Theres also bits of Junior Boys icy soundscapes and Blue States widescreen electronica.
