We got a few bits in on the Watercape label this week (Peter Wright, Apalusa, Aidan Baker). Not got time to review 'em all so here's my take on the Aidan Baker & Jakob Thiesen CD called 'A Bout De Souffle' which sounds like the most tremendous food fight ever. Always wanted to do a food fight and never done one. Any of you lot been involved in a food fight? I'd actually like to hear about it. As I've got older I've got into both things more so combining the 2 seems almost too good to be true. Anyway the CD kicks off with a long tune complete with massive tribal drums and a chugging beat. It then goes into more familiar electronic ambient territory. Later some acoustic guitars crop up in amidst the loveliness. Yes it's lovely. It's not dark like some of his work can be and there's a lot more going on that some of the more cold sounding glacial ambience he does... Probably the best thing I've heard him do and we only have 3 copies and then it's gone forever....Well worth checking out!
