Peverelist! Excitement! He's a bit of a favourite around here you know. One of the dons of the techno-y Bristol dubstep scene, his previous 12"s are pretty much all Ghostface Killah and 'Clunk Click Every Trip'/'Gather' is no different, sidestepping all the cliches to deliver a solid slab of the bloody future in the form of waxy stereo ammunition. 'Clunk' is all about the percussion with bassy stabs and retro synth washes added for colour.. It's a proper grower that one, I wasn't that impressed on the first listen but it gets under my skin more every time I hear it. 'Gather' is easily one of the most traditionally dubby dubstep tunes I've heard in a while, skanking along at a nice slow BPM with a totally addictive slinky bassline and blasts of what I assume to be Fender Rhodes played by a one-fingered Stevie Wonder dressed in a spacesuit. As Brian says, he's going to have a hard time matching the 'Infinity is Now'/'Junktion' 12" on Tectonic any time soon but this is well well well recommended nonetheless. Punch Drunk 4 eva.
