Japanese producer Quarta 330 is back on Hyperdub with a 12" housed in their fancy new sleeves. 'Sabbaco' is one of his originals as opposed to the chip tune remixes he does. It's a melodic bleeper that's got some nice bits, pleasant synth washes, rumbling bottom end (like our Brian) and some vocal samples but it fails to really grab my attention. Although I'm sure if I heard it out I'd get well into the groove. The flipside is a remix of a Cardopusher track 'Homeless'. For this one he's back on the case with that oldskool/8-bit video game crunch technique. It' all gets a bit tricky and cut up but still the head nodding groove is there and some meaty bass. This would no doubt wreck your head blasting at you. It's quirky and playful but it retains a darkness and heavyness that make it more than just novelty. Proper squelchy and crunchy action with silly arcade melody and 'Sounboy go home..' sample. If you dig Zomby's liquid dancehall then check this wonker out.
