This United Colours of Trouble Books LP is a pretty little thing. Apparently they've only done a hundred of them which is quite lazy when you consider that they've only hand drawn and painted the sleeves, done loads of drawings and written out the lyrics for the booklet that they've then sewed together. That's the trouble with young people these days, no work ethic. The album's got a lovely feel to it, cheap, cheerful and slack but still lush and dreamy.. It's quite unique in that way I think. Brian reckons they sound a bit like Thee More Shallows, Phil thinks maybe a bit of Sparklehorse. They're definitely a bit twee n'all. It does sound like they've got some sort of electronics on the go too but there's nothing listed up on the equipment list so I assume they're demons at using the old pedals to complement the rickety song structures. I think there's plenty of you out there who'll fall in love with this. Comes with a CDR of the album too!
