I can remember many moons ago tuning into John Peel and hearing some great fucked up beats by Christoph De Babalon a chap that has been quiet for quite some time. His return is welcomed with open ears and I must say it does not disappoint. Let's not forget that he's been producing stuff for years and easily preceded the breakcore explosion by a few years. This record is a dark beast with beats that sound totally fresh, complex sounding yes but not too clever for the sake of it. There is a haunting female vocal that makes 'Charybdis' extremely sinister. It's a long track that really takes you on a journey. It's very futuristic and original sounding stuff. 'Scylla' goes further into the darkness with an evil sounding vocal and twisted beats with great synth sounds. This is somewhere in between Venetian Snares and Cevin Key's post Skinny Puppy group Download. Although this is one track per side it is more of a mini album. This would probably have been single of the week but we couldn't decide whether it was actually a single or not. Yes the price tag is high but for fans I'd say it was worth it as this is some seriously addictive audio. Comes in crazy collage sleeve with enormous fold out poster and post card and pressed on crystal clear viny on Cross fade Entertainment.
