I've a split from Wicked Poseur and Little Trooper. Phil thinks the WP singer's Aussie but nope. They're from Houston TX and are a very odd proposition. I've a split from Wicked Poseur and Little Trooper. Phil thinks the WP singer's Aussie but nope. They're from Houston TX and are a very odd proposition. On 'Acrylic Tomb' a grinding lo-fi guitar pulls lots of naggingly familiar riffs whilst these new-wave drums and a plinking old synth trot along, accompanied by this strange Bob Mould/Bob Pollard hybrid rambling on in a most endearing fashion. It's quite GBV but with a strong whiff of Blank Dogs/Ariel Pink, disembodied altern-universe FM indie pop. Proper odd. The other track is possibly like a slacker Cabaret Voltaire/Human League, lots of old late 70s analogue plinking, rattly old drum machine creaking, retro oddpop. LT on the other side do twinkly, lo-fi pop like a baby Eels. In fact 'Wasn't Ready' is so in debt to Mark Everett, I think they should just send that poor luckless fucker any proceeds they make from this split single. Just joking, they sound delightfully sprightly, especially on the second track 'Dog' This magical song is just wonderful, a true plaid shirted DIY pop gem that ebbs and flows with a fun, impassioned vocal and a very jaunty piano making the whole thing bounce like a newborn pup!
