The Interiors are from Sheffield, starring on the Phantom Power label, purveyors of meaty indie pop tunes with a chunky, tuneful soul. They've filled their debut album, Delays Are Dangerous, with fuzzy guitars, pummeled bass, stomping drums and old time tunes with an effervescent bounce. The male singer has one of funny hyper voices like the chap from The Rogers Sisters and the girl sounds like the lass from Prolapse, urgent & a little tiffed off about summat. The tunes are kinetic blasts of earthy power pop laced with tons of vigour & fun. I'd really like to check them live as they've definately got that old school bang-em-out philosophy and don't sound remotely pretentious thank god. I mean, so many of these bands have to have some shitty contrived "image" or an "agenda". Nice to hear some carefree indie rock! If you like the other stuff on the label like Screaming Mimi then you may well find this blitzkreig of swinging Northern alt Rock is brilliant fun!
