Within The Realm Of a Dying Sun was the third album by famed Aussie duo and 4AD mainstays Dead Can Dance. It split the vocal contribution equally down the middle between Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard but was otherwise business as usual if usual is the right word for tinkering around with Indian and Middle Eastern sounds alongside church choirs, lashings of hammered dulcimer and the duo's unique vocals.

This is music for the soul-satisfying moments that find my feasting eyes reading by candlelight in a dark and breezy room. The mixture of Celtic, African, Middle Eastern, and other musical traditions always makes Dead Can Dance a great bet for a very good album. Brendan Perry's voice has somewhat of the tone or sound of Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, or Frank Sinatra yet the presentation is more mysterious, existential, and brooding. He brings somewhat a tone of anxiety into his smooth presentation.
